Nothing New
I know it's been a while since I posted anything up. Many reasons for that among them occupational chaos, and it's "All Quiet On The Krystal Front." The occupational chaos has resulted in my office moving about 20 miles which places me on the verge of Burgatory. The following is a map, taken directly from Krystal.com Store Locator. The big yellow dot is where I used to work. The big green dot is where I work now. Coincidently, I live right where the letter M is in Macon at the top of the screen. The red dots are Krystal restaurants. (Please be aware the colored dots and writing are only on the map, they don't show up in the real world.) While I still have ample opportunities to get Krystals on the way home, it appears bringing Krystals to my coworkers will require a minor road trip. ![]() The intersection just a hair's width from the green dot is Houston Lake Rd and Hwy 96. At that intersection is a BP gas station with an attached restaurant called Waffle King (think Waffle House). Waffle King closed a while back, so the place sits for sale and unused. It's already got what it takes to be a restaurant right there. It's a perfect location for a Krystal, similar to the one attached to the Marathon gas station on Hwy 247 (the red dot just north of the yellow dot). Why is this a good location? First off there's no Krystal within 10 miles. While there is a handfull of restaurants nearby, they cannot compare to Krystal. But the best selling point is its proximity to where I work, Middle Georgia Technical College. The big green dot. MGTC has students there from as early as 5 or 6am until as late at 11pm. Hungry students want good food, and Krystal is the ultimate student food. That area of the state is one of the fastest growing in the country, and that intersection in particular is getting bigger every day. (That actual intersection finally finished being expanded, though it took them about 10 years it seems.) And of course my favorite reason to put a Krystal there: it's really close to where I work. No one ever said the Krystal Kid wasn't a little selfish, ya'll! Edit- I almost forgot, another great reason to build near MGTC. The school blocks almost every website known to man on their wireless internet. Making research almost impossible. (I had a speech to do on hockey last week and couldn't do any research since all sorts websites are blocked.) Krystal resaurants are wireless hotspots, so students can escape campus to gather at Krystal to do their research on their laptops, having fun and eating good food, while they study. I know it works, Krystals helped me through my thesis. -End of edit In an effort to boost my nonexistant super suggestion power, I went to Krystal yesterday to recharge with the fabled Chili Cheese Krystal. It's not technically on the menu, but it is available. Krystal will happily put chili and/or cheese on anything you want. I don't advise putting chili or cheese on your Coke or the Lemon icebox pie. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Snakes at a Krystal!!
Due to the instant cult status of the soon to be released movie "Snakes on a Plane" I have decided to jump on board the bandwagon with my own Snake related post. Please do keep in mind, however, that snakes are not normally allowed inside of Krystal, so the chances of you actually running into a snake inside of a Krystal are very remote. (The parking lot is fair game, though) However, being an Eagle Scout, I want you to be prepared in the rare case it does happen. 1) Poke holes in your straw and play a fancy tune to charm 'em 2) Call the snakes and tell them you're from Fox24 and want to interview them at 6 PM. Then just don't bother to show up. (This is an inside joke from late March 3) Tell the snakes that Krystal is closed. (We all know Krystal almost never closes but snakes don't know this.) 4) Just go through the drive-thru! 5) Tell the snakes that Krystal is test marketing the new "Snake Scrambler" on their breakfast menu, and watch those Snakes Scramble! 6) Buy 'em a chili cheese pup. Nothing brings people (and snakes) together like those tasty little doggies. 7) Get up and dance on the table top like the little girl in the old Krystal commercials. (This entry specifically chosen for my father who still talks about that darn commercial.) 8) See how many Krystals the snakes can eat. Interesting fact: Did you know snakes can unhinge their jaw for maximum Krystal Konsumption. Now that I think of it, this might be how Kobayashi eats 67 Krystals in 8 minutes. If you've ever seen him eat he does a "squirm" thing too. Added bonus: after eating all those Krystals, the snakes will be too full to eat you! 9) Put chili and cheese on 'em. Everything at Krystal tastes better with Chili and Cheese on it. 10) Tell the snakes how to sign up for the Krystal Lovers' Hall of Fame, cause if those snakes are hangin' at Krystal, then theyre sure to be Krystal Lovers! ![]() ![]() |

Episode #3-Tuesday
OK, this will be a short post today, mainly cause its Friday and I'm tired. But a few side notes before I wrap up my big trip.![]() Now, the Saturday before I went on my Adventure, I spend the day with my friend Jarrett and his family, in town from Florida. His parents are probably my biggest Krystal fans except maybe my parents, and they very much wanted to get a picture taken with me. Jarrett's wife Jaime has a myspace blog and the picture is posted there. They also wanted me to sign it, and after years of getting hockey player's autographs, it only felt natural to sign it "Jason Jennette, KLHOF #22" You can also see one of my new Krystal T-shirts in the picture. After the Krystal Chik problem I ran into the other nite when I couldn't make a Spicy Chik'n Ranch, tonight I decided to make a regular Chik'n Ranch, it was quite delicious: ![]() ![]() (Yes I know there is already a "chicken ranch." Get your mind out of the gutter!) And with that I am sure you're ready for the last of my adventure recap. I left Chattanooga early on Tuesday, after walking Linda's dog. Or more accurately, allowing Linda's dog to roll around in the wet grass for 15 minutes. And headed towards Chattanooga. My hotel was in Murfreesboro, just south of Chattanooga. Why Murfreesboro, you ask? Well I had a top secret mission I had to accomplish. I arrived way too early at my hotel, as usual. Those time zone things ALWAYS mess me up. So I kicked back and read for a while until it was game time. Around 5:30 I got my gear on and headed to Gaylord Entertainment Center for the hockey game between my Detroit Red Wings and the Nashville Predators. Since the Wings had clinched 1st place almost a week prior they had been resting some of their top players prior to the playoffs (that start tonight,Wings are on OLN at 7pm). One of the players they were resting was "The Captain" Steve Yzerman, who due to age and injuries, deserved a rest. I worried I would once again miss him. A Red Wings fan in line (easily identified by all his red and white) told me they were going to sit out Stevie Y again that night. I was heartbroken. I got inside the arena and took my seat across from the Red Wings bench. You can imagine my surprise and joy when #19 skated out on the ice: ![]() Click the picture to see more pictures from the game While the Red Wings did not win the game, I think the score was like 6-3, they never intended to. Three of their top 4 scorers were sitting the night out, while Nashville played their top players in front of the home crowd. in the years since I have been to a game in nashville it was sad to see that as before the loudest fans were also the most clueless. Their shouts of "Look at the score, Chelios!" were greeted with my shouts of "Look at the standings!" (Detroit stomped the Predators by 18 points and their closest competition by 11). Of course this was met with confused looks and apparently they do not understand that no matter how many goals they scored they still wont be in first place. But I digress. After the game I found my way out of downtown Nashville and back to my hotel. On the way home the next day I happened to stop off at a Krystal somewhere just outside Chattanooga for lunch. While I was there I happened to start talking to the manager who was running the register. They had just dropped the fries to cook so I had some time. I worked into the conversation that I was Hall of Famer #22 and he didn't believe me. I told him I had a box in the car if he wanted to see it, but he walked back in the back and opened a carton of boxes and pulled out a handfull. Sure enough, right there in the middle was good old ME! he laughed and had me sign it, then told me how he'd also applied to get in the hall of fame. I wished him luck and took off with my lunch. Ok so my trip didn't end with all of the zest that it began with. But I think, finally, I am now easing back into the quiet before the next storm. When the cup comes out this summer, I expect another round of fun and excitement. You're gonna LOVE the cup! Until then, I expect my blogging to slow down some. Work is demanding a little of my attention lately. I guess we'll see how it goes. So for now, keep looking for me at your local Krystal and let me know when ya find me. If you wanna grab some Krystals with me at some point let me know. I have a few coupons we could use. Or just drop me a line and let me know what's up with you and Krystals. -Jason PS Look for some more Krystal Recipes to show up here soon including the stuffing recipe. ![]() |

The Big Monday in Chattanooga
OK, so Monday morning I was up early (for obvious reasons I couldn't sleep) and I rode in to downtown Chattanooga with Linda. She works at Siskin Childrens Institute a place for special needs children. This place is incredible! The story of how it was started alone was worth the trip: Two jewish brothers, the son of immigrants, take over their father's steel business and when it's really booming, Garrison Siskin has an accident that almost costs him his leg. While in the hospital he prays for God to help him and in return he'll dedicate his life to helping others. He miraculously gets better and with the help of his brother, Mose, they start a lifetime of amazing charity work. You can really see the faith and dedication of the Siskins everywhere, including the large museum of religous artifacts from all faiths. I was, and am, still in complete awe of how this place works. And into this, I wander with the idea of reading a book to some children. At first you feel like you're outclassed by a mile, but once you meet the folks there you see that they value the efforts of every single person. So about 9, I go to read The Big Orange Splot by Daniel Pinkwater one of my favorite books as a kid, and more meaningful every time I read it. ![]() Click the picture to see a few more pictures from Siskin ![]() Click the Krystal building to see more pictures from my trip to Krystal HQ I do now know for a fact that the folks at Krystal HQ read this blog, they told me. (let me pause to wave at the friendly folks from KHQ! HOWDY!) Kenny introduced me around, I met marketing folks, advertising people, the lady who basically handles internet stuff, good grief I met a lot of people. They were all so amazingly sweet and welcoming and open to me. I now feel like a complete clod for not getting any names or pictures. I had my camera and paper and pen and everything. Hopefully they'll accept this as an apology and perhaps drop me a note so I can get names and such. OK, so sometimes I'm a goober. We all know and accept this, yes? Good lets move on. I didn't get to meet the Krystal King, Mr. Exum, but I know I did meet Michael Williams, VP for Marketing. With it being Monday morning, I suspect there were important Krystal meetings in progress. Kenny showed me around the "Krystal History Hall" a short hall with glass display cases on both sides with all sorts of amazing artifacts like Krystal Fried Chicken buckets, and a box for Krystal Donuts. Old tax returns, pictures of President Ronald Reagan having Krystals on Air Force One. Old waitress uniforms, and lots of pictures. Some of the offices had great decorations, one person has the "Combo Menu" portion of a Krystal Drive Thru menu, lots of banners and signs and stickers. I also got a sneak peek at one of the Krystal Cups they're working on. It wasn't the one of me it was another hall of famer, but you guys are gonna LOVE the cups when they come out. I spent half my time at KHQ speechless and awestruck and the rest of the time laughing and shaking my head at just how amazing this all is. I left with a big stupid smile on my face but a gnawing hunger in my tummy. It was time for food. Linda and I had scoped out the original location of the first Krystal on our drive in, and I confirmed it with kenny, so I was off to check it out. The location of the first Krystal, at 7th and Cherry St is no longer a Krystal. It is a place called the Angus Cafe. ![]() Click the image to see a few pictures from the Cafe Oct 2004 Jan 2005 As I sat there eating my burgers, I found myself with the urge to get up and scream "This is Krystal, not the Angus Cafe!! Ya'll get out!!!" That's a good sign it's time to leave. Nothing against the current owners, but as I told Kenny, the location is BEGGING to be bought back by Krystal and turned into a history museum, with all the great artifacts from the "History Hall" plus the tons of other stuff they surely have in a closet somewhere. Plus they could cover the walls with all the folks from the Hall of Fame. I am sure the folks at Krystal have had this idea already, it's not such an amazingly innovative idea, is it? OK, so lunch is done and there's a lot more of Chattanooga to see, so I make my way to the aquarium. ![]() Click the picture to see more photos of the aquarium Finally to wrap up for Monday's recap. I spent an hour or so wandering around downtwn Chattanooga and I know I still haven't seen everything. I will definitely have to get back up there this fall. I have a hand full of pictures from around Chattanooga as well, but this post is already WAY too long, and im tired of typing. If you're interested in seeing Chattanooga, you should go there and see for yourself. I can give you directions and hotel suggestions and such (I don't think Linda will let all of ya'll stay at her house!) But for now, I think that's enough! (Don't you?) One more (short update) coming tomorrow in Episode #3 of the Adventure including my top secret mission! Stay tuned, peoples! (And go get some krystal chiks!) ![]() |
Brief preview & stuff
Just wanted to let you know there will be an update tonight reviewing my Monday in Chattanooga. It was a very full day so the update is taking a while. So to help you hang in there, I figured I'd toss out a quick update. First off, I felt with the Chik recipes I gave last night, some pictures might be helpful. Tonight, since it's Thursday, I headed to Krystal, intending to make the 3 "New Chiks" I described yesterday. Imagine my shock and surprise when I was told the Spicy Chik was no longer on the menu. I know the Spicy comes and goes, but I had my hopes up for the Spicy Chik'n Ranch! So I guess we'll wait on that. In all honesty, ranch dressing would be tasty on a regular Chik, too, but the spicy would be so much better. So in place of the Spicy Chik'n Ranch, I have added the BBQ Chik. I can't take credit for that one, though. I believe Kenny Hammontree told me about that while while we were touring the Krystal Test Kitchen. (Yes that was a teaser for you to come back later!) Anyway, here's the 3 Special Chiks I made tonight: Left to right is The Krystal Kordon Blue (extremely yummy, I used Canadian bacon and swiss), The Chik'n Parmesan (mozzarella cheese and spagetti sauce, VERY yummy) and on the right is the BBQ Chik (good but maybe adding onions on top would help). I also went with no pickles or mayo on these, the BBQ one might do OK with the pickle, and the Kordon Blue might work with mayo or mustard but I don't eat mayo. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sunday (The Adventure begins)
My original plan was to leave Macon at roughly 12 o'clock and arrive in Chattanooga around the time my host, Linda, would arrive at home. Because I was too darn excited to sit still I left about 11:00 am. My speedometer also didn't quite match the numbers on those signs they like to put beside the interstate. I arrived at 2:00 pm. I had planned Monday to take a ride on the Chattanooga Ducks to get a tour of the city. Since I had gotten to Chattanooga to early I decided to ride the ducks then. As I motored into downtown, I wondered exactly where the Ducks were. As I pulled up to the stoplight at 5th and Broad street this massive green monster shot out of a building on my left and swung to the right and rumbled down the block. I had found the ducks! You can't miss them. ![]() (Click the image to see more pictures from my duck tour.) After my duck tour, I started on my way to Linda's house. When I got there we started to talk about dinner plans. She asked if I had ever eaten at Sticky Fingers, and since I hadn't we went there. The ribs are yummy. Since Linda and I are both from North Carolina, though, we spent some time evaluating the Bar-Be-Cue sauces available and also discussing the various type of sauces. Don't get me started. Just buy yourself some Scott's barbecue sauce and stop all the fussin'! Over dinner Linda said she knew someone who customized trucks and vans and they'd been working on a truck for Krystal. It coincidently was sitting outside of a Krystal not too far from Linda's house. So after Dinner we decided to go take a peek. Yes this is the first of many MANY Krystal Koincidences of the weekend. Imagine this bad boy in your rear view mirror!![]() (click to see more pictures of the Crave Cruiser) Kenny told me that the Cruiser was due to move out the following day. I was lucky Linda had seen it the previous week. After bunches of pictures we decided to call it a day. I had a long day in front of me. But that's episode #2, and you'll have to come back tomorrow. A few extra notes. First off, I am up on the Krystal web site now. Click on the Hall of Fame logo at the top, then click on the trophy, and you should see me. YES, I know my last name is misspelled. I've already let em know. Cut 'em some slack. Chill out and have a chili cheese pup. While I was at Krystal HQ I was told to go ahead and toss out some of my Krystal Recipes/Suggestions. (More on that tomorrow!) So here's a few that I came up with while dining on my Krystal Chiks at lunch today, somewhere just north of Atlanta: Spicy Chik'n Ranch: Take the basic Krystal Spicy Chik, knock off the pickle and mayo (I never eat mayo anyway). The put a dab of ranch dressing on top. Perhaps some lettuce, like the yummy lettuce they use on the BA Burger. (Haven't had a BA yet? Go get one NOW!!) Chik'n Kordon Blue: Regular Chik, boot the pickle (and mayo), add swiss, and ham. I prefer the name "Krystal Kordon Blue" but then folks would think you're dressing up a Krystal. I've tried Swiss on a Krystal and I didn't care for it. Chik'n Parmesan: Regular Chik again, toss the pickle and the mayo, then add some marinara sauce, and cheese on top. If some parmesan cheese and garlic could be added in, that would make it even better. I better stop now. I'm making myself hungry! ![]() |

He's baaaack!
Well I got back from my trip this afternoon about 1. It has been a long weekend, but an absolutely unbelievable one. Rather than pile on one huge email, I think it's probably best to spread it out some. So my plan is to do updates over the next 3 or 4 days. That will also give me time to sort out the pictures. I took over 160 pictures this weekend. If you don't have a digital camera, GET ONE! If you don't have one of those big memory cards for your camera, get one. I drained 3 sets of batteries this weekend but my camera only got half full of pictures. I figure each day this week, I will post about one day of my trip. I was gone Sun-Wed. So I'll post about Sunday later tonight. You'll figure the rest out, I am sure. Also, since this blog gets emailed out to a lot of people, I will only be posting Krystal related pictures directly to the blog. The rest of the pictures I'll link to from here but host on my Geocities account. I was an absolutely amazing weekend and vacation. Exactly what I needed. I wish you all could have been there. But then we might have overwhelmed my hosts, so perhaps bringing you in person isn't a good idea. Thankfully through the wonders of digital cameras and the internet, you'll be able to join me anyway, sort of. Look for something later tonight! ![]() |

Easter Egg Hunt!
For this Easter Egg Hunt I am not suggestng hiding Krystals around the yard for your children to find. Although that does sound like a lot of fun, year round. Especially if you decorate the boxes first. Just not such a good idea if you have hungry doggies in the neighborhood. Natasha's pint sized pooch Buffy scarfed down a Krystal, pickle and all last night! Now that's a Krystal Pup! For this Easter Egg hunt, you'll need to find my face on a box at Krystal. Once you do, please email me and let me know where. I'll start an "I spotted Jason" map so people will know where my Krystal Boxes have shown up. The Rules:
In about an hour or two I am leaving for my true Adventure to Chattanooga and Nashville. I may or may not be able to get to email and/or posting here so you may have to fly solo my friends. This will give you a head start on the "Where's Jason?" contest. My plan is to spend the Monday morning with Linda where she works with special needs children, reading them "The Big Orange Splot" by Daniel Manus. One of my favorite books as a kid, it wasn't until 30 years later I realized what it teaches of diversity and individualism. Heck I spend every day at work teaching grown ups who act like children, it should be fun to teach to children who act like children. A little after 10, I will catch up with Kenny Hammontree at Krystal HQ across the street from Linda, for a tour and then we might go off in search of lunch. I will then make my way to the location of the first Krystal restaurant about 3 blocks from Krystal HQ. Next I will catch the electric shuttle (which i can only assume is called the Chattanooga Buzz-Buzz instead of Choo-Choo). I'll ride down to where the Chattanooga Ducks take people on tours of the city. No it's not feathered tour guides, it's WWII amphibious landing vehicles that take you on a tour of the city on the river. Last stop will be the Tennesee Aquarium. I plan to spend hours and hours looking at the fishy friends. Tuesday I leave for Nashville and the Red Wings vs Nashville hockey game. Wednesday I leave for home where I am sure to spend my afternoon gathering pictures and posting the amazing stories here to share with all of you. Have a safe and happy Easter. Now before you run off to try and find me, I think you're supposed to cover your eyes and count to 10 while I go and hide! Ready? Go!! 1... 2... 3... 4... ![]() |

A big fat update!
OK, so I didn't pay close attention to who was running around with cameras during my induction ceremony tonight so I didn't know what channels to watch. But then it hit me. I took a lot of pictures, maybe they could help. We've all watched CSI, and SVU, so I decided to give it a try. Using this picture, I zoomed in on the two areas in the yellow squares: ![]() They produced the following two images: ![]() ![]() These are clearly 13 WMAZ's logo on the car and 41 WMGT's logo on the shirt. So now we know who was actually there. I watched and taped the interview on 13WMAZ. They post some of their stories on their web site www.13wmaz.com but my story is not up. It might be eventually, I'll give it a bit. Here is the text of the story taken from the web site's archives NOW AFTER THOUSANDS OF ENTRIES...JASON JENNETTE IS A MEMBER OF THE KRYSTAL HALL OF FAME. IT'S A STORY THAT COMES... STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART.. JENNETTE SAID HE EARNED THE NAME "KRYSTAL KID" BECAUSE OF HIS WEEKLY TRADITION TO THE FAST FOOD CHAIN. NOW BECAUSE OF HIS LOVE FOR THE MINI-BURGERS...JASON JENNETTE HOLDS A NEW TITLE..."A KRYSTAL LOVER"...AND HE NOW HAS A SPOT IN THE COMPANY'S HALL OF FAME. JASON JENNETTE SAYS EVERY THURSDAY HE HEADS TO RESTAURANT FOR THE BIG TASTE...AND EVEN HOLIDAYS CAN'T STOP HIS KRYSTAL ADDICTION. Jason Jennette: On Thanksgiving I make my stuffing out of Krystals. Krystals' actually closed on Thanksgiving. Its one of the few days they are closed. So I buy my Krystals late on Wednesday and I use them to make my stuffing for Thursday for Thanksgiving. TO SHOW APPRECIATION FOR HIS LOVE OF THE BURGER...KRYSTAL WILL FEATURE JENNETTE ON HIS VERY OWN SPECIALLY DESIGNED HAMBURGER AND CHEESEBURGER BOXES. So now I am keeping my eye on WMGT. I didn't see the story on tonight, so I'll tape their news programs for the next few days to see if I can get one. Then it's back to trying to get them video captured to put on the web. So it's back to Chris the Video King. If you catch the WMGT interview on tape, please let me know! I got quite a few pictures taken. I threw them up on another web site this evening. It's a quick web site, nothing fancy. Click here to see the pictures Ok, so what else happened? I spent a lot of time talking to Kenny when I first got there. Kenny has an awesome job. He reads ALL of the Hall of Fame entries, and he also gets to travel to meet the inductees and eat Krystals with them He has a goal to eventually eat at every Krystal restaurant. He'd already eaten at the Spring St. Krystal in Macon, so we directed him to the new Krystal on Zebulon Rd. After having a meal with me, and Johnny Solomon, he planned to have another out on Zebulon before heading back towards Atlanta. Krystals twice in one day, now that's dedication. We made tentative plans for me to meet up with him on Monday while I am up in Chattanooga to get a run through of Krystal HQ. I might get to meet the CEO, see their merchandise section where new Krystal goodies are created, and perhaps take a quick run through the Krystal test kitchen. I'll try and sneak my camera in and see if I can catch a peek as something new and yummy. Of course I'll also bring some of my Krystal recipes along and "accidently" drop a few around the kitchen. muhahahaha! I finally cracked open the Krystal Steamer box of goodies. Inside was a hat (I am currently wearing) several t-shirts, a ton of bumper stickers (the ones you see on this site) pencils, pens, keychains, koozies, and some more super special things I think I'll keep private for now, lest someone break into my house and steal all my neat new stuff! If I had to pick the best thing that happened today, I don't think I could single anything out. It was such a full, fantastic day. I met some awesome people (Kenny, Johnny, Bernida, and Michael) I ate some wonderful food (Krystals of course, and that yummy cake!) I got some great gifts (plaques and shirts and stickers) and enjoyed the company of other folks who love Krystal as much as I do. I would say it can't get any better than this, but since I am going to Krystal HQ next week, I might be speaking too soon! Thank you all for enjoying this ride with me and I wish so very much you could have been there to share the day with me. I do finally have a big pile of boxes in hand, and they should be hitting stores soon. So go out and grab one (or 12) and I'll start sending the ones out to folks who emailed me. As a funny side note, my nephews want boxes to take to show and tell. I can only imagine the "tell" part. "This is my uncle Jason. He's nuts!" Seriously though, my nephews are awesome boys and the first batch of boxes is headed their way. From the Krystal Lover in me to the Krystal Lover in you, Thank you. Jason ![]() |
I am IN!!!!
Just got in from my induction ceremony. There is SOO much to say. It is going to take me a while to gather my thoughts before I put up a good quality recap. I got a lot of goodies. I met Hall of Famer Johnny Solomon, who is one of the reasons I am now in. He's a real nice guy! But before I get into all of that, you may want to try and catch me on TV. There were 2 cameras there tonight but in all the confusion I didn't catch the stations, so here's where to watch for me:
Yes, I have oodles of pictures, but and I will post something before bed tonight but right now I just need to take a moment to run around the house and jump up and down and scream "WhoooWheee!!!!" And now finally, for the first time, I can post the following bumper sticker and really meant it! Today is a GREAT day! ![]() |

Morning Update
The next 10 days are going to be big days for me. My induction ceremony is Thursday at 6:30. I should have pictures from that up here later that evening. You can come join in if you want, if you could just email me a quick note I would appreciate it. The time and location are a few posts down. If all goes as planned I should be visiting Krystal HQ next Monday. Work, however, is trying to interfere, but then doesn't it always? Sadly, you wont hear from me until Wednesday, because the Krystal HQ & Chattanooga portion is only the first half of my trip. I am also headed to Nashville for a Detroit Red Wings hockey game. That was the original reason for the trip until I got sidetracked by Krystals. But then don't we always get sidetracked by Krystals? I know I do. I hope to be back in the saddle Wednesday evening bursting at the seems with great pictures and fun stories from the road. Stay tuned! You may have noticed a few slight formatting changes here at the Adventure site. My Archive was getting out of control over on the left so I did some "tweaking" and now have a drop down box. I think I probably need to put some quick access links on the left to my first 2 or 3 posts, so new folks can catch up quickly. If you have suggestions let me know. That's suggestions about the site, not about my personal life, or what I should get at Krystal next Thursday! Lastly, if you've been a regular at Krystal (like me) you may have noticed them rolling out the Hall of Fame decorations. They had the table ads last Thursday. I stopped by Saturday and they have signs on the windows and hanging ads with some of the next batch of inductees. One of my Krystals came with inductee #31 on it, Louis Lollar, from Huntsville. (I love Huntsville, by the way) So what this means, folks, is keep your eyes on Krystal. The next batch of Hall of Famers, including me, is coming swiftly. Fasten your seatbelts, comrades, we're in for a wild ride! ![]() |

Channel 41 Interview is up!
Thanks to my good friend Chris, AKA "The WopLobster", the first interview has finally been captured and uploaded to the web. Here's where you can see it: Please do keep in mind that due to bandwidth for my "free" geocities web space, if too many people view the clip, it will lock down the video for an hour or so. So if you can't get to it, take a deep breath, go get some Krystals (it is Thursday, ya know!) and come back later on! More good stuff coming, folks! ![]() |

WHOOOHOOOO!!!!!
![]() And here: ![]() And at the bottom, too! As far as I know this is the complete collection, now. If you happen to see one or have one I don't have, please let me know! One small one tidbit, just make you laugh. My friend Jarrett's parents e-mailed me to let me know they had TiVo'd my interview. I laugh every time I say that: I've been TiVo'd! By the way Jarrett and his parents have tried my tasty Krystal Thanksgiving stuffing. It does exist, and it's darn tasty! Ready for the big news? Are you SURE you're ready for the big news?? I just got off the phone with Mr. Hammondtree, and my induction ceremony is set: Thursday April 13th, at 6:30 PM. It will be at the Krystal on Vineville Ave. in Macon. If you need directions, click here If you do plan to attend, could you please just shoot me a quick email at JasonJ1052@aol.com, letting me know and how many there will be. I want to make sure the Krystal knows how many people to expect. Could it possibly get any better? Yes it can, my dear friends, yes it can! Mr. Hammondtree say it would be fine if I stopped by Krystal HQ while I am up in Chattanooga in about 2 weeks. You can bet I'll be clicking off pictures like paparazzi stalking Jessica Simpson! Let me tell ya, I'm so excited, it makes me wish I had a tail, so I could wag it! ![]() |

Fox hunt and other details
![]() As for the other interview (Channel 41, WMGT). I have it on tape, but getting the video captured and uploaded to the web has also hit a snag. The video capture plays on one machine but not mine. If it won't run on mine, it likely won't run on yours. Add to that the fact that it is currently almost 75 megabytes, it's not really ready for putting on the web. So I'm putting out the call again for anyone who can do a simple video capture from VHS to most any normal format on the computer. I am working on scheduling my official induction ceremony. I'm going to try for an evening the week of April 10th, and obviously Thursday April 13th would be the most appropriate. That's like next week, ya'll. I'll be putting in the call to Kenny Hammondtree tomorrow afternoon to coordinate details. Anyone in the area is invited of course. Hopefully they'll have the boxes there so we can all get one or four or eight or the "Krystal Steamer" (a box full of 24 with a carry handle and all). I'm working on putting together a few of my Krystal recipes, including the stuffing recipe. I think I'll host those on my Geocities account and link to them over on the left side, like the Krystal Box collection. The missing bumper sticker(s) are in the mail and I hope to have my paws on them Tuesday. When I get them in, and scanned, I'll probably do a slight reformat of the site. I may have another nice little present coming in a week or so as well. But I'm keeping that one top secret til I actually have it in my hands. It's going to be an extremely busy month for me, both at work and at home. But if you stick with me, I'll stick with you. Fun and excitement are afoot! ![]() |

Jared who?
![]() For me to accomplish his same feat, I would first have to pack on almost 200 pounds, then turn around and lose 245. I frankly don't see the point. I never ate Krystals to lose weight. I have never eaten Krystals to gain weight. I eat them because I love them. Now, I have gone on a diet and lost a lot of weight at one point, while I continued to eat Krystals on Thursdays. I have contemplated posting that story and pictures here as well, but I don't want to be like one of those TV Infomercials that try to convince you that you are fat and they are your only salvation. People all try to make diets out to be complicated and hard and it's just not so. If you eat less and move more you'll lose weight. It's not rocket science. Hey, it's called the Krystal Lovers Hall of Fame, people. Where the hate and hostility comes from, I don't know. Perhaps they don't like or are jealous of Jared, and want someone to punch his lights out. I don't know. Maybe if we all just went to Krystal and sat down to some burgers and chili cheese pups and some of those yummy vidalia onion rings, we'd raise our ice cold Cokes in a toast to health, happiness, and world peace, and the world would be a better place. It might not work, but it would be a yummy thing to try, anyway! ![]() |

Busy day and a true Krystal Adventure
![]() OK, so I am going to Nashville in mid April for a hockey game (my Detroit Red Wings against the Nashville Predators). This trip has been in the planning stages since December, when I saw the Wings in Atlanta. I had been planning to stop in Chattanooga for a few days to see a friend of mine, Linda, and also be the typical tourist by going to the Aquarium, and Rock City/Ruby Falls. Linda also recomends the Duck Boat tour. But a month ago, it dawned on me: Krystal HQ is in Chattanooga. A quick check online confirmed their address(1 Union Sq # 1), as well as the address of the first Krystal, at 7th St & Cherry St. Suddenly I was no typical tourist, I had a mission! Krystal Mecca! So I tried to get in touch with Kenny Hammontree (See this post) about stopping by, but have not yet gotten a firm reply. Then, in one of those magical Krystal Koincidences, Linda told me that her office is across the street from Krystal HQ, and only a few blocks from 7th and Cherry. TADA!! I now may have a staging ground from which to launch my assault on the Krystal Kapital. Now I know Krystal HQ is not the World of Coke or Disneyworld. I don't expect rides and clowns and dancing bears. But I would love to get pictures, maybe meet some of the people responsible for those delicous little burgers, share some of my recipe ideas, and if the building is square and smells good, I just might take a bite! YUMMY! You can bet there will be plenty of pictures here if I can work this out, so watch this space, my Krystal Kompanions! ![]() |
