Thanksgiving Eve MADNESS

Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all through the house... Oh nevermind. It's the afternoon before Thanksgiving and I'm not "all through the house." I'm hard at work in the kitchen. I'll be dining with my friend Jarrett and his family for Thanksgiving, and once again they have placed a request for my famous Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake. So I will be baking that up in a little bit. Don't tell them, though, but I'll be bringing a "test" cheesecake, a recipe I have been kicking around for a while, and need test subjects. I'll also be visiting with my friend Kim and her family prior to going to Jarrett's parents house. Another cheesecake tester!
So whats with all these taste tests? Well over on the message boards at Krystal.com there was a conversation about things to put on your Krystal. As you already know from previous posts, I love to put new and creative things on my Krystals. During the discussion, it dawned on me that, during the Thanksgiving season, cranberry sauce abounds.
I am a fanatic for cranberry sauce. It's tart, it's sweet, it's delicious. The canned stuff. Not the kind with the whole berries in it. Yuck! They don't make apple sauce with whole apples in it, so why does cranberry sauce have whole cranberries in it? And why do we have to wait til Thanksgiving for it?
Cranberry sauce happens to be an essential part of my all time favorite meal: my mother's chicken nuggets, cranberry sauce, and peas. If you laugh at my mother's chicken nuggets I'll be forced punch you in the throat. Those who have had them before under stand and they may also punch you in the throat for laughing. (Before you ask, no you may not have the recipe. It's a family trade secret, so you'll have to marry me to get your hands on it. You can also avoid being punched in the throat.)
I have an ex girlfriend who insisted on eating her cranberry sauce actually on top of her turkey at Thanksgiving. Scoop up some cranberries then turkey in the same fork full. I never understood that, but I learned to live with it.
So with Thanksgiving looming, and the web-discussions of what to put on a Krystal, cranberry sauce came to mind. I go by the grocery store today to get stuff for the cheesecakes, and over to Krystal as well (because as we all know they're closed tomorow). I figured I might as well go all out.
As you can see I tried it on a Chik and on a Krystal. Cranberry sauce on a Chik is awesome!!! (Cranberry sauce on a Krystal, not so good.) The warm crispy chik and the cold, smooth, sweet/tart cranberry sauce. It's excellent. I went ahead and put cranberry sauce on all 3 of my Chiks from my #3 combo. I don't know why I never thought of this before. And perhaps Krystal will start stocking cranberry sauce packets next holiday season for those with a hankerin for a holiday taste.
You'll also notice in the picture they now have the new Chik boxes out. They just arrived here this week. I'll get the boxes scanned and uploaded next week when I get back to work. I also saw they have the new boxes in for the Double Krystal and the Double Cheese Krystal. So can you figure out what I am ordering next week?
Anyway, I suppose I need to get back to the kitchen. I have learned over the years that a cheesecake won't make itself. So I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Let me know if you try the Krystal Stuffing. We'll regroup here later this week and turn our attention towards Christmas.
I'm A Krystal Lover
