First off, I promised pictures of the New Double Krystal and Double Cheese Krystal boxes. Well we have good news and bad news. The good news is, they use one box for both the double cheese and the double Krystal. Seems easy enough. One side is done in the Cheesy style and the other side is done regular (uncheesy?).Click the pictures for larger views.

The bad news, though, is I know these aren't the only two double boxes they have. I happen to have picked up a couple more doubles over the weekend while working on a new recipe. One of these boxes is like the first one pictures above, but the other box is different from both of those above. As I sort of expected (and feared) there are LOTS of different Krystal boxes now. I am unsure if I will be able to keep up my Krystal Box collection and keep it complete. That wont stop me from trying, but boy I am gonna have to stay on my toes. Now the latest news: I stopped by the Byron Krystal this afternoon after I got off work. I took one of my boxes and cups with me as proof of ID. Since I have learned that some people don't actually believe I am who I claim I am. I went in and waited til the line died down and approached the girl at the counter. I asked if I could talk to a manager. She wanted to know if a shift leader would be OK. I said sure. Might as well start where I can. So I met Tabitha. I showed her my cup and explained that I was the Krystal Stuffing guy. I then told her they had a "Krystal Stuffing" sign on their drive through and I wanted it when they were done with it. Tabitha then asked if I was the guy who came through the drive thru a few months back raving about my face on the cup. I was. I got my cup at the drive through! She read my cup and laughed about it. Asked if I really did make my stuffing out of Krystals. I said I did and offered to bring her the recipe if I could get the picture from the drive through. She said she'd have to ask the store manager and she left to go to the office. I stood patiently, getting occasional strange glances from the other folks working behind the counter. Eventually Tabitha returned and told me they would be putting up a new sign later this month so I would need to call or come by around then. She then noticed my box I had inside the cup and pulled it out and read it too, laughing about the whole stuffing thing. I left my name and phone number with a message to contact me about the sign, and I promised to call back when they were getting ready to change out the sign. I also told her I had just finished a Krystal Pizza recipe and I would bring that recipe with me as well. We both laughed and I left. With a big Krystal smile on my face. But no Krystals in my tummy. You see, I had eaten lunch only an hour before, so I wasn't at all hungry. But don't worry, I'll make up for it on Thursday. I think I'm feeling a little Chili Pup attack coming on! Once I get the sign in hand I'll certainly let you know and get some good pictures to post here. I'm all excited now! What a Monday! |
