Monte Cristo, Redo
With better preparation and my George Foreman grill, I decided to tackle my Monte Krystal recipe one more try and got better results. You'll need: Cheese Krystals (sans pickles), 2 large eggs, 1/2 cup of milk, raspberry jelly and/or powdered sugar. Flatten the Krystals slightly. This is mainly so they hold together in the dunking and grilling. The George Foreman grill will squish em nicely once they start cooking. Wisk the milk and 2 eggs together in a bowl while the grill heats up. ![]() ![]() ![]() My conclusion: the powdered sugar Monte Krystal was interesting. Salty sweet cheesy onion flavor. It's probably an acquired taste. I just haven't acquired it yet. Now as for the raspberry version, yum yum! Tart, sweet, hot, excellent. Then again you could probably get me to eat plywood if you put enough raspberry jelly on it. The bottom line is, I am not sure it's worth the effort when making these for one person, though the George Foreman grill really made it easier. If you can get a crowd together, I could see an assembly line cranking these things out! I'll probably wind up doing a Krystal Panini here soon, just for kicks. So keep your eyes open. ![]() |
