More Booty? Yes, please.

While driving home today I still had booty on my mind. (That phrase will be important later.) It suddenly occurred to me that I had already found some booty a long long time before my discovery in the snack food aisle at Harris Teeter's yesterday.
While we don't need to rewind as far back as 1993-94 like yesterday we do have to rewind quite a bit. Perhaps 1997?

My friend, Jennifer (cruise buddy) had been telling me of a band I simply had to come see in Florida. The band was named Rudy. She found it ironic that the lead singer, Robbie's last name sounded like mine though it was spelled quite different: Gennet. This is the most bizarre spelling of my last name I'd ever seen. But once you meet Robbie, it all makes sense. Robbie does his own thing, always.
Robbie's music pedigree is vast including stints with Seven Mary Three on tour as well as Nick Lachey last tour. (Yes, THAT Nick Lachey). Rudy's music was used in the Real World and Road Rules on MTV, back before MTV sucked, and while the Real World still seemed real.
So I planned a summer trip down to Florida and Jennifer took me on a road trip to follow Rudy around for a few shows. Words fail any and all descriptions of Rudy's music. Heck their MySpace page and web site don't come close to really doing them justice:
(Please note that Rudy's music tends to be PG-13 up to NC-17. Not for kids!)
On their MySpace page you can get a taste of their music. I recommend the following: "Booty" (of course) as well as "Pooter" and "The Underpants Song." They are the ultimate in funk and grooveeness. You won't be able to keep your booty from shaking. You'll be so preoccupied with grooving to the tunes you won't notice what the lyrics are really saying til the 2nd or 3rd verse when you'll suddenly exclaim, "Hey! These guys are dirty! But Funny!"
Yes they're dirty but in an absolutely hilarious way. They remind me of another favorite band of mine, Emily's Toybox. The big difference is Rudy's got the funk that gets your booty moving. ETB has that crushing rock that kicks your teeth in.
Despite their obvious difference, they do have something in common. They know good music. I have seen both bands play Iron Maiden's song "The Trooper." ETB played it at my request. (it's one of my top 5 all time songs) Yes, I am a "Rivethead" (slang term for an Iron Maiden fan) and have been since about 10th grade. You can find Rudy's version of The Trooper online for download. Its rocks hard! Without Guitars!
Yes, I have wondered what a Rudy & ETB double feature would be like. One word comes to mind:
FUN
I have gotten completely off topic. Perhaps I should simply wrap this up with these motivational words from Rudy:
You're so fine. You're so fine, girl.
You got that booty on my mind!
Krystal Lovers like hot buns.
