It's my understanding that there is a big football game coming up on TV sometime soon. At big TV football games they make a big deal out of the coin toss. in the old days they made the player call "Heads" or "Tails" while it was in the air. What's worse is they always make special coins for the toss instead of using good old George Washington. It's no surprise that a few years back they screwed up a coin toss and now make them call it prior to the toss. I believe they also have to let it hit the ground now to avoid the classic cheating trick of catching it in one hand and quickly flipping it to the back of the other hand if your side wasn't up. How much better would it be if they tossed the coin and shouted: I know you're probably wondering why the left side is the "Buns" side and the right side is the "Heads" side. Well it seemed pretty obvious to me. You only fund buns on the backside, right? And that's the opposite end from the head, right? From what I have been able to gather this coin was sent out to Krystal Managers and/or Executives after the company was taken over by Port Royal Holdings in 1997. The names on the front side are "Phil" and "Fred." I can only assume "Phil" is Phillip Sanders who owns Port Royal and "Fred" is Fred Exum, CEO of Krystal. How do I know this? I read this history of Krystal. Be forewarned, though, that is a business history of Krystal, warts and all. It's not always the happy cheerful stuff like the history and timeline you'll find over at Krystal.com. Given the corporate turmoil that was apparently going on at the time (1997) it seems to me to be a pretty cool gesture to send out a celebratory commemorative coin and on it declare appreciation for the past and hope for the future. Heck it's now 10 years down the road and Krystal's doing OK, so Phil, Fred and the rest of the Krystal Krew must be doing something right! So while flipping a coin is only a 50/50 shot at winning, in my opinion, going to Krystal is like flipping a two headed quarter. You just can't lose! |

Very good post! Buns are behind. HAhahaha.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work.
p.s. I'm sorry for the delay in posting my first Krystal experience. I have been overwhelmed with my wife blowing out her knee and all of the repercussions from that. I don't want to be a single parent, ever. I hope she gets well soon.
