Loganberry-boohoo

Well it appears me quest for Aunt Rosie's Loganberry syrup is coming to a sad end. While I did manage to locate a gallong if it last week, I contacted the person who I got it from and asked if they could supply more in the future. Their reply was essentially what I had heard before:
The Aunt Rosies label has been distributed by Pepsi for a while now, however they recently stopped producing the syrup mix and only carry the mixes used in fountain machines for restaurants. So to answer your question, this is one of the few gallons of syrup left. There are other brands out there, but none under the Aunt Rosies label.
At one time I had located a scanned picture of a sales flyer from a grocery store in North Tonawanda (which I believe is indian for "We're real close to Buffalo.") The sales flyer showed a gallon of Aunt Rosie's Syrup. The sales flyer was a few years old, but had an addres on it. I tracked down the store's phone number and I called.
They also told me that Aunt Rosie's wasn't doing the syrup. However they weren't sure if it was just a seasonal shortage or permanent.
I guess now we know. Shall we all pause for a moment of silence?
Curse you Pepsi Cola!!
So where to next?
Well from what I can find there's 3 other companies who do (or did) produce Loganberry: Smeaders, Cronfelts, and PJ's.
Smeaders appears to no longer exists, but they may have actually become PJ's.
Cronfelt's does still exist. They're a Canadian company. Loganberry actually started as a drink at a place called Crystal beach in Ontario, just across the border from Buffalo. That's where Cronfelts appears to come from. I haven't been able to locate any address for Cronfelts, but have found a place that sells the syrup. I just have to find out if they ship it, and if so will they ship it internationally. Yes, Canada to the US is technically considered international shipping, eh?
So all hope is not lost yet. And of course there's PJ's if Cronfelt's doesn't pan out. I have been told on several occasions, though, that PJ's stinks. Perhaps I have stumbled into a beverage version of Krystal/White Castle proportions?
If all else fails I can get cans of Aunt Rosie's online and the awesome Sodafinder.com web site. But once you price it out with the shipping, it winds up being like $2-$3 a can. Ouch!
More to come once I make a couple of international phone calls. Keep your paws crossed!
Krystal Lovers get more in the sack!.

If you order 48 cans, the shipping per-can isn't too bad. And... I now have lower shipping rates with UPS. Up to 30% lower than before.

My Daughter just did a project on Crystal Beach and we found that Cronfelts Crystal Beach Loganberry syrup is avail through a food services company for consumers, not just businesses. Vitality Foodservie Canada Co 28 Mollard Court, Barrie, ON Canada L4N 8Y1 phone: (705) 722-9049 Fax: (705) 722-9533

I was at Loblaws in Toronto yesterday (July 8th 2009) and saw that Cronfelt's Loganberry syrup is on the discontinued rack for 1/2 off the original price. I picked up two and I am going back for more tonight. Nigh's Sweet Shop‎ in Stevensville's ON also supplies the syrup in 2L bottles.

This brings back memorories. In the late 60's I spent my summers in Crystal Beach. I used to work with a Mr Ken Cronfelt who had onced owned the hot dog stand selling Cronfelt's Loganberry. He was retired then (about 1968) and worked with me in an electronics store part time. He was just working to gain enough employement quarters to qualify for US SS. He had served in the US Navy I believe.
