Cruise Part Deux
Yesterday I forgot to post up my "boarding" picture from the cruise so here it is. While I am at it, here's my picture from our first port of call, Coco Cay. please ignore the straw hat, but be sure to pay close attention to the T-shirts in the pictures! (And you didn't think I could work Krystal into a cruise to the Bahamas. And I'm not done yet!) Our first stop along the trip was the smal private island, Coco Cay. Royal Caribbean "owns" the island and has fixed it up into an amazing island playground. We knew going in there were a few things you needed to watch out for. First was the Coco Loco, a frozen fruity tropical drink with a heavy dose of rum. One is good, two is dangerous, three is lethal. I had 1, no rum. Why no rum? Well for the other things you need to watch out for at Coco Cay... Like Stingrays!!! The real thing to watch for at Coco are the jellyfish. This is their mating season and recent storms had pushed a lot of them near the island. I'd been reading horror stories on the web for a month about them. Try this. QUICK! Count the jellyfish in this picture. If you looked for more than 5 seconds, you've been stung! If you didn't count 3 jellyfish, you've been stung! Now that you've been stung you have to run and get some vinegar to pour on the sting! HURRY!! Not how you want to spend your vacation, is it? Well, I didn't have to worry about getting stung. I was smart enough to get Safe Sea a cool new invention. It's a sunscreen with "jellyfish sting protection" in it. I know. I laughed too when I heard it. I had visions of the old Bat Man movie where he had "Shark Repellant." I have since learned there IS such a thing as shark repellant, and yes there is actually something that protects you from jellyfish stings. I did some research on how it works. It's actually pretty cool, but lets no go "Mythbusters" this time. Email me if you really wanna know. Jennifer and I spent the entire morning dodging the jellyfish, but realized I'd never know if that stuff works if I didn't touch one. So after lunch, I found a jellyfish and I poked it. I poked it again. I rubbed the back of my hand on it. Nothing! That stuff is cool! And, by the way, a jellyfish feels like a hard boiled egg.. smooth, slick, kinda rubbery. I doubt it tastes like a boiled egg. And if one more person makes a "peanut butter" joke I will punch them. But enough of the scary dangerous stuff at Coco. Thats just a tiny portion of an amazingly beautiful island. We spent an hour or so just kicked back in a lounge chair under a palm tree relaxing. It has to be hard to beat a view like this: My cruise may be over, but the recap has just begun. Tomorrow will be the review of Wednesday: Nassau, Formal Dinner, and other fun! The post may be late, though, because I'll be heading from work down to Perry for the Krystal Squareoff qualifier at the National Fair. I have not yet decided if I will attempt to eat any Krystals. It will be Thursday, so I am going to have some eventually anyway. And why not get FREE Krystals, and a cool t-shirt to boot? So I'll either be back late tomorrow to post a recap, or I'll be face down in a bucket of Pepto. Tune in! |
