TGIT!
Oh yes, it's Thursday. Thursdays are usually big days for me. Mostly they're full of good things, but occasionally not so good things. I full expected today to be a big one. After a lot of false starts, today was the day to finally get my truck fixed and get my emissions inspection and fially the Krystal Assault Vehicle would be legal The day after my truck got smacked, I looked it over and figured I could replace the broken part, so I went and ordered it. I was shocked at how cheap it was ($25) going to be and felt I'd made out like a bandit. I figured I'd keep the good times rolling and went to get my license and tags the next day. Spending WAY more than I expected and also discovered that I had to have an "emissions inspection." Again trying to get the good times back on track I decided to go get my inspection and it was then that I found out the damage to my truck was more extensive than I thought and I wouldn't be able to repair it myself. Also, I wouldn't pass the "emission inspection" until it got fixed. (There's a secret "safety inspection" they do during your emission inspection.) I had them order the extra part that supports my headlight because that apparently also got broken and knocked my headlight out of alignment, thus making it impossible to be "legal." So far we have gone from $25 to $175, not including the inspection fee, which I now expect to be like twice the quoted price of about $30. Yesterday after two phone calls, the place I had ordered the original part from called to say it had arrived. I drove across town to pick it up only to find it was the wrong part. I quickly called my mechanic to let him know and he said I needed to come in so he could get the part number off the headlight. That's another trip across town. I arrive bright and early this morning to let them get an early start on my truck. They pull it into the shop and get to work. I bought a pile of snacks and a soda, and my school books because I knew I'd be there a while. Within a hour they came in to tell me the part they'd ordered (the one I tried to order in the first place) had arrived broken, and they'd have to order another. He went ahead and fixed what he could, while they tried to track down the missing part. Eventually they found one that could be delivered by 2 this afternoon. We all agreed that wouldn't work out well, so he fixed what he could. He then told me that the damage was even more extensive. The support behind the headlight was also bent and without about $200 worth of body work, my headlight would never be "straight." However, he said he was able to adjust it to within "legal" limits and thus I got my inspection sticker. A big fat ugly stick in the lower driver side corner of my windshield. I go back tomorrow to get the last part replaced. Thats the parts I had intended to fix myself way back in the beginning. Trying to find the silver lining ion all this he said that since he'd done enough work under the hood and such he was just going to charge me for the inspection sticker but not the labor. So that was just $6. Finally! good news on a Thursday. Since I got back home around noon, I have been thinking about Krystals. Today was the first day since I have moved that I felt like I needed Krystals to get me through. I knew I had to do something special. Yes, I know you're saying "Jason you've already done bacon, cheese and ketchup, how can it get better?" Well, tonight, I went classy. I went for the BLK: That's not just lettuce, that's Romaine, baby! Heaven![]() |

Cheerwine?! With Krystals?! That must be better than Romaine lettuce.
How was the combo? Bet you can't get a Cheerwine and burgers at a Krystal!
You rule.

Yeah - love that combo. How I loved Cheerwine when I vistited the Carolinas. I'm telling you, you Southerners have all the culinary luck! ;o)
