What about Bob?

If you've been living in a cave for the past few months, you might not have heard that tomorrow is the airing of Bob Barker's last episode of The Price Is Right.
My job, while it has painful hours (6:15am to 3:15 pm) does afford me one great luxury. Lunch time is 11-12 every day. That's TPIR time!
We have a small staff break room in our building and a few of the instructors gather there every day for lunch, since it's impossible to get off the flightline/industrial area to anywhere for lunch and back in an hour.
Years ago the office used to have a cable TV hook up. However, someone realized that we are contractors, so the cable TV was pulled. Thankfully, we can still get 13WMAZ (Macon's CBS station) to come in without too much static. (Someday they'll figure out the contract does not specifically grant us toilet paper or oxygen so we'll have to bring our own from home.)
My lunches are spent most days pricing cars, and foot powders, and various types of furniture. We all love Plinko, of course, and with my math background I give odds and strategies for winning certain games. (No one ever plays Cover Up right, and my favorite thing is to sing along with the mountain climber on Cliff Hangers.) With the broad background of our lunch time crowd, we do pretty good.
Since I am the youngest person on the all male staff, I bring something new to the (lunch) table. Apparently the rest of the guys did not realize there are models on the show called "Barker's Beauties." As the other guys are evaluating the prizes, I am evaluating the models. If you tune in tomorrow, you'll be able to see Gabrielle Tuite, aka "CatFace." Trust me, once you have seen her you'll understand.
It will be sad to see Bob go after 35 years. There is no way I could match the praise and honors others have already heaped upon him. He really is that great. Who can forget him stealing the scene in Happy Gilmore?
People often wonder how Bob gets so popular among college students. I cannot vouch for all of them but I know how it worked out for me. When I was in college, classes were not scheduled from 11-12 for 3 dys a week. That time was set aside for lunch and for club meetings. For me that was TPIR time. I am sure many college kids are the same way.
If you can't catch Bob at his regular time tomorrow afternoon, CBS will be rerunning the episode tomorrow night. I promise not to spoil it for you. However as the days leading up to tomorrow have gone on there's been a noticable trend in the prizes and well and Bob getting a bit more... um... rowdy.
So stop by tomorrow and wish Bob well, if you can. You can even send emails or video submissions on the CBS website if you like. Tomorrow is the end of an era, and you can say you were there to see it.

Thank you, Bob!

I'm A Krystal Lover
