Coming And Going
By my count I have about 18 days until I leave Macon. I have been spending a lot of time in these final days talking about where I am going. It occurred to me today that I will have plenty of time for that AFTER I move. I should be enjoying and sharing Macon while I am actually in Macon. I know from my excitement it may sound like I am overjoyed about leaving Macon. Please don't confuse my feelings over moving to Wilmington with my feelings about leaving Macon. I have lots of friends and memories here and it is going to be tough to leave them behind. While writing this blog, I have always felt I had plenty of time to share the joys of Macon. I have countless pictures and stories. But of course now I do not have unlimited time in Macon. So for the next few posts over the next couple of weeks, I'll be concentrating on Macon, my current home. Perhaps you will be interested in visiting, even though I may no longer be here. It really is a nice town to visit, especially during Cherry Blossom Festival. Ever since I made my decision to move, I have had a constant stream of "signs" telling me I had made the right decision. If these "signs" had been Krystal related, I would be calling them Koincidences, as usual. I could never recount all of the signs I have been given, because there have been so many and I am quite sure to forget some. However, someone did ask me if I had seen any signs telling me to stay. At the time the answer was "no." They of course felt it was because I wasn't looking for "those" signs, but instead I was only looking for signs that confirmed my decision. I almost agreed with that. Until last Thursday. The building next door to where I work, building 125, is where they do work on the massive C-5's. In the building is a small snack bar that serves lunches. The menu changes every day and they have the weekly menu posted on the wall. Most days I bring my lunch, but occasionally I just go hit the snack bar. Last Thursday (Krystal Thursday) I am looking at the snack bar selection and not seeing anything that interests me, so I take a peek at the menu on the wall. I notice it is a new line up. Then right there under Thursday I see it: "Mini Burgers." Is this a Krystal Koincidence? Is this a sign that perhaps I should be staying around? I find them in the heated display. Three small square burgers, with potato wedges and baked beans. This simply could not be ignored. I grabbed them, a strawberry shortcake, and a Fanta Grape and I am on my way. When I get back to the break room in my building, I go and get Glenn to bring the camera for a quick photo of the discovery. I felt the amount of catsup on the burgers was lacking so I got the squeeze bottle from the fridge to add some more. It is one of those "store it upside down" squeeze bottles. First squeeze? On my shirt. So THAT was my sign. Fake Krytals, and catsup stains on my shirt with one class left to go for the day. Yeah, it's time for me to go. ![]() |
