Diggin in the toybox

As a Krystal Lover, you may have guessed that I have a rather extensive collection of obscure Krystal items. Due to this blog I have people who will either send me items or direct me to where I can acquire them. You've already seen what is perhaps my most prized Krystal Kollectable, The Krystal Kreed. But you haven't even come close to seeing all the Krystal Goodies I have. So this week I will try and give you a tour of the Kollection. This weekend I'll begin with the toy department.
You may recall almost a year ago I got my hands on a cute little Stuffed Krystal. Other than the fact it was cute, I had almost no other information on the item. And that was how it sat. Not quite one of the Misfit Toys it was nonetheless a mystery. Until Early this year. That was when I got my hands on another complete stuffed Krystal. And suddenly the mystery was solved!

The mystery stuffed Krystal was part of an advertising promotion. It originally came in a Krystal box with coupons on the sides. It all made sense! I also understood why I never knew about the box, as someone must have used the coupons on the sides of the box.
As you can see by the prices this must have been a very old promotion! You don't often hear of a 6 Krystal combo anymore, aka "The Half Sack" or "Six Pack." And at $2.50 it would be QUITE a bargain. The mystery with the original toy was when was it made. The tag on the toy was so faded I could only make out the first two digits of the year: 19. Well the tag on this new toy is in perfect shape.
In fact I may be the only person to have every even seen it. The year on the tag is 1999. The expiration dates for the coupons on the side of the box are 4/30/2000. So it is a safe estimate that this little stuffed chunk of fun was a late 1999 promotion. It is also a safe assumption that it is going on the shelf in a more respectable place.
You may be wondering what happened to the original Misfit Krystal. Well once I had seen the simple brilliance of putting the stuffed Krystal into an actual Krystal box, it took me only a split second to realize where it would go.
You might recall almost a year ago I had a fancy display case built to properly display my Krystal Box. It has sat on my shelf at work and now sit atop my TV at home. While I have always been totally pleased with how the display turned out, seeing an empty Krystal box always makes me a little empty inside too. For obvious reasons, placing a real Krystal in the display box would have been a bad move, so the box has been left empty. It is empty no more!
You see, just like in the movie, when it is all said and done, there is always a place for Misfit Toys. A place where they can be happy and proud of who they are. Where their talents and skills are loved and appreciated.
The same goes for us misfit people.
Krystal Lovers get more in the sack!.
