My Krystal Kruise

Monday, we wake up and there's really only 3 things on the to do list: get some cash, get some Krystals, and get on the boat.
Once on board the ship you really don't need cash. Almost everything is already paid for, and the things that aren't, you charge to your "sea pass" a combination, room key, ID, and on board "credit card." We did need some money for Krystal and tipping the luggage porter. Once we had a fresh handfull of frog pelts, it was off to Krystal. We weren't in a big hurry, but were excited to get to port and get going. We did decide to sit down and enjoy an early lunch/snack at my favorite place. Jenn couldn't remember the last time she'd eaten at Krystal, so I encouraged her to go for the #1 combo, with cheese. I got a #1 with cheese plus a regular Krystal. You'll see why in a second.
We sat down for lunch and to talk over the ship boarding process. Jenn's done a cruise before but I hadn't. I'd been doing research online for a month to prep for the trip, and knew a few "tricks." I ate 3 of my Krystals, and save 1 cheese and the 1 regular Krystal. These would be my Krystal kontraband.
I had recently acquired 2 small square tupperware containers that were perfect fits for a Krystal. Yes, I measured them. I placed each burger in one of the containers, wished them a safe passage, and snapped on the lid. For an extra layer of protection, I slipped them each into zip lock bags.

Yes, my legs really were that white. And yes, that is a Krystal shirt I am wearing.
With our smuggling plan underway, we zoomed off to the coast. It was a beautiful drive, but entirely too long. Then again when you're going on vacation, any drive longer than 50 feet is probably "too long." We pulled into Port Canaveral and as I pressed my nose to the glass looking at all the fantastic sites, Jenn navigated us around to the Royal Caribbean area. (To the northeast end, just south of Disney.)
She dropped me off with the bags and went to park the car. I check our luggage with the porter, and while I wait for Jenn to return, I wander over for my first view of our ship, Sovereign of the Seas.

You can see her bridge to the upper right.
Checking in and boarding was relatively painless. We had a picture taken just prior to boarding. I need to scan it and post it tomorrow. We then made our way to our stateroom to drop off our carry on bags, and meet our room steward, Stephen. Then it was up to the Windjammer for a snack and waiting to set sail. While in the Windjammer we also got to see (well feel if a more accurate description) that rocket they launched over at NASA. There was the obligatory "Muster Drill" where they tell you how to wear your life vest, show you were to gather, and yes, the women and children do go first. Most everyone assumes that the manly heroic thing to do, but I know it's really so the sharks are full by the time the guys get in the surf. But don't tell anyone that secret! Oh and there are no pictures of me at msuter drill. No matter how hard you try, you cannot make an international orange life vest look cute, manly, or sexy. Everyone looks like a goober in a life vest.
After muster drill, we ran back down to our stateroom, threw in our vests, and noticed our checked baggage had arrived. I checked on my tasty little buddies and they were safe and sound, snuggled amongst my shirts. This cruise was starting off great!
Finally it was back up to the deck to wave goodbye to Florida and hello Atlantic Ocean. One thing you simply cannot get tired of, though, is a great sunset over the ocean.
And if you think THAT is a "postcard" picture, wait til you see some of the shots I got on Tuesday. But you have to wait til tomorrow.
Krystal Lovers get more in the sack!.
