I *did* Walk a Mile for a Krystal
Chris recently reminded me that I never gave an update on my post I'd Walk A Mile For A Krystal. He was right and there was a very good reason why. You see, when I made that bold statement and pledged to walk to Krystal, I failed to take into consideration the fact it was going to get warmer. In fact, that Saturday turned into the hottest day of the year, to that point. Macon came close to breaking record temperatures that weekend. Check the weekend of June 9th (please be aware that link will no longer work after July). For those that don't know me, I was probably a seal or walrus in a former life. I am well known for going to hockey games in shorts, t-shirt, and sandals. I have walked through 7" of snow in sandals and shorts (and I think my mom is still upset about that). I have even had a barefoot snowball fight. Cold does not bother me. Heat on the other hand, brings me to my knees immediately. With the temperature getting close to 100 again this holiday weekend I am wondering if I can get an inflatable pool set up in the living room. I figure I'd loung in the pool, with a frosty fruity beverage, some All American Krystals, and watch World Cup soccer. Anyway, so not only was it the hottest day of the year, I also unwisely decided I would walk to Krystal for lunch, thus the hottest time of day. Thankfully I was at least smart enough to wear shorts! It is technically 1.2 miles to the Krystal on Vineville, so round trip was 2.4 miles. I took roughly 15-20 minutes each way thanks to an amazingly long stoplight at Vineville and Pio Nono. I also sat at Krystal for about 30-40 minutes for lunch, chatting with the folks there, and rehydrating. The guy cooking noticed my bedraggled appearance and sweaty shirt and remarked about how hot it was outside. As if I hadn't noticed. So here we go:![]() ![]() Once I arrived home, took a shower, wrung out my shirt, and dumped the 2 quarters of sweat out of my shoes, I was in no shape to be posting anything. You may also notice it was a couple of days before I posted again. I spend that time sleeping and drinking Gatorade. Someone please slap me the next time I have a stupid idea, ok? Thank you! ![]() |
