Blog-o-rific!

So it's a slow evening and I am prowling the web. I'm not one to spend much time on other folk's blogs. But Krystal-Lovers hasn't been updated in a while and I'm getting antsy. Yes, I know, the folks who run K-L have jobs and stuff so their lives don't revolve around blogging. Sadly, I guess that says something about me, eh? There are a few other blogs, however, that I do enjoy reading.
While I have spent hours reading over astrophisics blogs, and an abstract algebra blog, I never felt the urge to return so I would consider those some kind of "blog affair." The blogs that bring me back time and again are the ones that match up with my sense of humor.
I have been told for years I have a "dry wit." While I have never felt that a "wet wit" or "soggy wit" seemed like anything to aspire to, I'd at least like to one day have a "moist wit" or perhaps a "slightly damp wit." Oh, and shockingly, I've been told I can be a bit sarcastic at times. Ya think?!?
One of the first blogs I ever fell into was Barney's Blog. The blog is supposedly run by Barney Stinson, a character from one of my favorite TV shows "How I Met Your Mother." Basically the show is set like 30 years in the future, and it's a father (Ted) explaining to his 2 children about how he met their mother 30 years earlier (in other words, now). Ted's the single "every-man", and he has 2 friends who are engaged. But the character that steals the show is Barney Stinson who is played by Neil Patrick Harris who you may remember as Doogie House MD. Now what makes him the star of the show is first of all you can't shake the mental image of Doogie Houser and the irony is hilarious. Barney is a player (or playa'), perhaps the ultimate player. His jokes and timing are priceless and provide the best one liners of the show. Its even more funny if you still remember him as Doogie Houser. Sadly if you don't watch the show, a large majority of his blog entries may not make as much sense. The blog posts were put online as the shows aired so they were in sync. Since the show is now on summer break no posts have been made in a long time. (Much longer than K-L.)
Barneys Blog though does bring up a few Meta-Bloga-Physical Questions: If the blog is run by a TV station is it really a blog? If it is run by a fictional TV character, is it really a blog? Since NPH has admitted he doesn't do the blog, then really, who's blog is it? Either way, it's darn funny, and borderline PG-13 in many places. But it will probably convince you to watch the show once or twice and then you'll be hooked. You may also notice some similarities between a few of the Barneys Blog posts and some of mine.
Another blog I have gotten hours of joy out of is an old blog named Fist Full of Plooble. Oddly enough I found this site while trying to do some research on the "Lawnmower Dance" for a prior post. (I'm always fascinated by the results you get from some web search engines). Anyway, Plooble is exactly my kind of humor. The sort where you wonder if perhaps the writer is taking too many or too few medications, or perhaps you need more medication. The sad thing about Plooble is that it hasn't been touched in over a year. But don't let that scare you off. The Plooble site is a horrid mess of organization. The guy who runs it is a writer, so organization likely isnt as important as content.
The sheer disaster of organization has a good side and a bad side:
The good side is, you can spend weeks prowling the site and never run out of new material. Sort of like if you have a heard of hampsters running amok in your house while you're gone on vacation. I assure you that you'll be finding little presents scattered around for the next 2 or 3 years. This is plooble!
The bad side is, if you find an article or post you like you had better bookmark it or print it immediately because there's no way you'll ever find your way back to that post again intentionally. I have accidently found the same post 3 or 4 times. I still haven't found that first post that brought me to Plooble almost a month ago. This is plooble!
Other than these two, plus K-L and my own blog, I really don't venture out on the blog-o-sphere much. I always knew there were freaks-a-plenty on the internet, and apparently blogging gives them a license to flaunt it, like it or not.
(If you want the links to the astrophysics or abstract algebra blogs let me know, but bring Extra Strength Excedrine.)
Krystal Lovers like hot buns.
