Build your own box!
And now for the Arts and Crafts portiong of Krystal Adventure... So you've played the Krystal Box lottery and come up empty. You've tried to beg and bribe your way into getting a box and gotten nowhere. You live too far away and just can't get to a Krystal to get your own box. Well, here is my last suggestion on how you can have your own Krystal Box with my face on it: Make your own. What You'll Need: A copy of my box. (You can download it in this word document: buildbox.doc) Glue Paperclips X-acto knife Work surface Parent's permission When you print your own copy of the box you should print it on stiff card stock, about the same weight as an index card. It is also very important that the picture is 10.5" x 4" I have it set up that way in the word document but depending on your computer and printer it may get reformatted. If you can't open the above document or want to go freestyle, the original image is here (right click to save). Preparation 1) Cut out the box removing all of the 'brown' area. I suggest using an X-acto knife for the scalloped edge. Take your time, it will be rewarded. Folding 2) Fold the box sides. There are 4 vertical bends, one between each side, plus one more for the long vertical 'tab' on the far left edge. 3) Fold the bottom of the box. Again there are 4 folds, we'll call them 'short tabs' and 'long tabs' 4) Fold the 'wings.' This is an optional step, but if you desire a 'fully interactive' box, fold along the thin black lines on the right end of the long tabs. These two folds go in the opposite direction of the other folds: ![]() ![]() We will start by gluing the bottom together. You’ll notice a few black dots on the long and short flaps. Do not confuse these dots with the 'clock' or the 'gun site' graphics. Those are used for the printing of the boxes, not for assembly. 5) Place a tiny dab of glue on the dot on the small tab. Fold the box so that the tab with glue on it folds under the long tab to its left. The glue should now be under the dot on the long tab. You should now have two sides forming a 90 degree angle. Press and hold until the glue dries. I suggest using a paperclip to hold the flaps together. ![]() Repeat step 5 for the remaining bottom tabs. You should now have something similar to the following picture: ![]() 6) After the bottom has dried, remove the paperclips and put a small amount of glue on the long tab. Making sure the bottom comes together correctly, glue the long tab inside the other side of the box. Hold this until the glue dries. A paperclip might not work, so you may have to hold this with your fingers for a while. I suggest letting the box dry overnight before trying to collapse it, just to make sure it won't fall apart on you. ![]() ![]() No go out and show all your friends, and share the picture and instructions with them so they can make their own Jason Krystal Box! ![]() |
